Privacy Policy

MortuaryPrep is a study tool. We collect the minimum needed to give you an account, remember what you've studied, and take payment — and nothing else. We do not sell your personal information.

Effective August 7, 2026. Last updated August 7, 2026.

Who we are

MortuaryPrep ("we," "us") operates mortuaryprep.com and the MortuaryPrep mobile app. We are an independent study aid and are not affiliated with The Conference (International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards), ABFSE, or Pearson VUE. Questions about this policy go to brian@mortuaryprep.com.

What we collect

  • Account information. Your email address and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your password in readable form.
  • Study data. The questions you answer, whether you got them right, which ones you flag, your spaced-repetition state, mock-exam results and per-domain scores, and your daily progress. This is what makes the readiness score and review queues work.
  • Onboarding answers. Optional details you give us when you sign up, such as your target exam date or school, used to tailor your study plan.
  • Payment records. If you subscribe, we store your subscription status and the identifiers our payment processor gives us. We never receive or store your full card number.
  • Support correspondence. If you email us, we keep the message so we can help you.
  • Aggregate usage analytics. Privacy-friendly, cookieless page analytics — page views and referrers in aggregate. No cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, no personal identifiers.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or device identifiers for tracking. The mobile app requests no special device permissions.

How we use it

To create and secure your account; to save and show your study progress; to calculate your readiness score and mock-exam analytics; to process payments and manage your subscription; to send account-related email (password resets, sign-up confirmation, receipts); to answer support requests; and to understand, in aggregate, which parts of the product are used so we can improve it.

We do not use your data to train models, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of vendors to run the service. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and account email delivery.
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) are generated as part of serving requests and are retained briefly for security and reliability.
  • Stripe — payment processing. Card details go directly to Stripe and are handled under Stripe's privacy policy. We receive only a customer reference and subscription status.
  • Plausible Analytics — cookieless, aggregate site analytics.
  • Hostinger — the mail server behind our support and account-email address.

If we ever add a provider that handles personal information, we will update this list.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to keep your session secure. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics provider does not set cookies at all. Clearing these cookies signs you out.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and study data for as long as your account is open, so your progress is there when you come back. Delete your account and your personal data is erased immediately, except payment and tax records we are legally required to retain, anonymous aggregate statistics that can no longer identify you, and the one record described next.

Free-trial record. We keep a one-line record that your email address has used its free trial, and we keep it after the account is deleted. Without it, deleting an account and signing up again on the same address would grant an unlimited series of free trials. The record holds your email address and the date, nothing about your studying, and it is used only to decide whether a future signup on that address is eligible for a trial.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app — open Account from the home screen and choose Delete account. You do not need to email us or ask permission. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, every answer and attempt, your readiness history, mock exam results, flagged questions and study plan are erased, and any active subscription is cancelled at the same time so you are not billed again. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore a deleted account.

Your choices and rights

You can view and change your account details in the app at any time, and delete your account yourself as described above. On request, we will also give you a copy of your data or correct anything wrong. Depending on where you live — including the EU/UK under GDPR and California under the CCPA/ CPRA — you may have additional rights, such as objecting to certain processing or opting out of sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of). To exercise any of these, email brian@mortuaryprep.com from your account address and we will respond within 30 days.

Security

All traffic runs over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider. Database access is restricted per user by row-level security, so one account cannot read another's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of what we hold — which is study progress, not health or financial records.

Children

MortuaryPrep is intended for mortuary science students and professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

International users

We operate in the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. If you use MortuaryPrep from outside the U.S., you are transferring your information to the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
